須賀宏江さんは昭和10年（1935年）生まれ。小学3年生の時に、当時住んでいた横浜から、高崎に疎開してきました。近所の高崎競馬場（現Gメッセ群馬）に、陸軍の高射砲の陣地が置かれていたこと。須賀さんが通う小学校も兵舎に転用されたこと。終戦前日の夜、激しい空襲の中を裸足で逃げたこと。父が戦死したニューギニアのこと。戦後しばらく経過して訪ねてきた父の戦友の話など、戦中・戦後の体験について語っていただきました。
Hiroe Suga was born in 1935. When she was in third grade, she evacuated from Yokohama to Takasaki. She lived near an anti-aircraft artillery post on the Takasaki Racetrack, the site now occupied by the G Messe Gunma Convention Center. The school she attended was converted into a barracks for the soldiers assigned to the post. The night before the war was declared over, a barefoot Hiroe ran for her life during an air raid. She talks here about her wartime experiences, her father’s death on the battlefield in New Guinea, and a comrade of her father who visited after the war.
